This year has flown by (Similarly, depicted in: Example A). I've got my buds in and am humming away as I go.
All is still well, we have now gone through multiple oil changes via sucking it through the dip stick (what even!?)
A few not concerning CEL's, mainly engine coolant temp. sensor related. Cleared, and have not returned since. Coolant seems good and readings seem consistent.
The mileage/age and lowered stance combo has created some new vibrations and rattles at certain conditions that irritate the life out of me!
The roof-liner has sagged some more, with the ever-promise that it will get done soon. During the last few passings of "soon", the rest of the car mods have had great planning developments take place. During which the next mods have been identified.
I've also convinced myself that the K04 / Hybrid K04 is the way to go for my perfect OEM+ setup. The rest of the supporting mods are burning a hole in my thoughts. It starts off easy. Just an intercooler and a minor exhaust upgrade. Cool. Moar-Powah! K04 upgrade! Okay, but going faster means you need to be able to brake accordingly, too. So, naturally big brake kit. Cool, got it; going with the OEM+ option where one takes the brake calipers from a certain Porsche model, and the discs from an E-class MB. Dog-bone mount and engine mount upgrades are the starting point, then some coil-overs (bags if I could afford them; insert eye-roll here), swaybars, links, poly mounts all 'round, and the list goes on.
Like I said, all is still well. And we are slowly (I repeat, slowly) moving forward.
Then...
Head over to the Gallery section of this website. You'll see some of what I saw at SEMA.
As a car-guy, this was an awesome experience. I realized and earned new respect for the effort and beauty people have bestowed into cars. It is very motivating to see. Inspiring me to find a way to someday take Zoë to SEMA. I cannot wait to go back!
In the interim, I'll just be livin' and tyin' to get to that ultimate OEM+ MK6 GTI: Zoë
While I keep enjoying the wonder of this nippy little hot-hatch.
I hope you'll continue to enjoy this journey with me.
